1944’te Manisa Kulada doğan Ünlü, öğrenimini Ege Üniversitesi, İktisat Fakültesi’nde yaptı. 1970’te İzmir’de TRT Kurumuna girdi. 1974 yılından itibaren spor servisine geçerek çeşitli maç nakillerinde spor spikeri olarak görev aldı. Çok sayıda ödül almıştır.
